The last of this season’s Super Saturdays, with a Smaller Saturday to close off national selections 2022 next weekend. Much as I’ve enjoyed this, is has been equally exhausting and I’m looking forward to slowing down for a while now!
Melodi Grand Prix (Denmark), Final
In what ended up being a close super final, Reddi and their song “The Show” ended up winning with 37% of the votes, ahead of Conf3ssions on 32% and Josie Elinor & Jack Warren on 31%.
Selecţia Naţională (Romania), Final
After an occasionally messy selection process where fan favourites were left behind in the semi thanks entirely to a jury vote, it was a split result: Dora Gaitanovici won the televote ahead of WRS, who in turn won the jury vote ahead of Kyrie Mendél. Dora Gaitanovici ended up in 6th place among the jury, which more or less sunk their chance of winning and so WRS with “Llámame” is off to Turin.
C’est Vous Qui Décidez (France), Final
Soa were the hot favourite going in to this with the bookmakers, but it was Alvan & Ahez who won both the jury and televote with “Fulenn”. Pauline Chagne was the runner-up, with Soa in third place.
Pesma za Evroviziju (Serbia), Final
In a result that seemed to have the international audience somewhat bewildered, Konstrakta with her “In Corpore Sano” featuring some won both the televote and jury vote over the more favoured Sara Jo.
Melodifestivalen (Sweden), Semi-Final 5
The eight hopefuls competing for four tickets to the Melfest final were divided into two groups, and the top two from each group would be the acts to go through to next weekend. From the first group, Tone Sekelius and Anna Bergendahl qualified, while Theoz and Cazzi Opeia were the top two from the second group.
Söngvakeppnin (Iceland), Semi-Final 2
The televote sent Daughters of Reykjavík and Katla through to the final, while the jury used their wildcard to select Amarosis, the act which opened the first semi, to complete the line-up.
Festival da Canção (Portugal), Semi-Final 1
The five qualifers for to the final were Os Quatro e Meia, Diana Castro, FF, Aurea and Maro. A surprisingly downbeat selection (Diana Castro) aside given how there were some more energetic tracks in this semi which missed out.
