Well, it’s been a longer wait than usual, but now we know: Eurovision 2022 will be held on 10, 12 and 14 May in Turin, Italy. As of today, this blog is in new season mode.
Originally, this would have been the third time around for Eurovision, Seriously: I was supposed to be there in person at Eurovision 2020, and attended Australia Decides as a warm-up event. We all know what happened next, and bereavements in my family meant that I didn’t have the headspace to cover 2021 beyond some live-tweeting sessions.
This time, I’m going all-in. All being well, I will post daily from now until 31 May 2022, after which I will go silent until the dates and host city for 2023 are announced. My posts will be short and varied: commentary on the latest news, general commentary on the contest itself, song reviews from this season and contests/national finals past — whatever feels right on the day. (Junior Eurovision has never appealed much to me, so I won’t be covering that.)
While I won’t be enabling comments here, I welcome feedback via Twitter, where I am @ESCseriously, and you can also send me an old-fashioned email at eurovisionseriously (at) gmail (dot) com.
